Plan information(Ice Wakasagi Fishing in Sapporo)
In Hokkaido, January is the beginning of the wakasagi (smelt) fishing season.
It requires very simple tools to fish, therefore, accessible to beginners.
Experience the joy of fishing through this package!
An experienced local guide from Hokkaido will conduct every step of the tour so don’t worry if you don’t have any prior fishing experience.
Wakasagi tends to swim in schools and because of that, it’s possible for anyone to go on a catching streak.
It’s a unique and exciting fishing experience as you’re more likely to catch multiple fish.
Deep fry the fresh caught wakasagi to tempura for a snack is part of the activity!
Cook them on the spot until golden crisp to eat is truly a luxurious experience.
All necessary materials such as fishing tools and boots are available for rent.
We do offer a free shuttle pick-up and drop-off so there is no need to worry about transportation in the snow.
There are other activities if desired, such as ice drilling (to fish), and tent building, so this plan is also recommended to families with small children.
Come and join us in wakasagi fishing on your visit to wintery Sapporo!
