Plan introduction (Snorkeling in the most beautiful river)
This package will have you river snorkeling in the beautiful Chitose River, which flows from Lake Shikotsu, known to have the cleanest water in Japan.
You’ll start out practicing in the shallow parts of the river with an experienced instructor, so you can gradually get used to snorkeling in the river.
The water is so clean and pristine – snorkeling in it will surely be a sight to remember.
The underwater driftwood at the base of the lake is also home to marine life – there’s a good chance that you’ll witness the diverse school of fish underwater!
The entire plan under the water will be about 45 min.
Just like the scenery above water, underwater scenery changes with the season.
During the summer, you can see a school of 1000+ fish swimming from Lake Shikotsu into the Chitose River, or also witness underwater flowers blooming.
Drysuits will be provided, and participants who cannot swim will be snorkeling while holding onto a float.
Photos from the session will be provided free of charge as well.

Long sleeves recommended
Upper/bottom outerwear to keep you warm during the cold weather.
Participants will wear a dry suit in April to keep themselves warm.

This document must be signed by a guardian if a minor is participating without an adult.

70 min drive from Sapporo,
40 min drive from New Chitose Airport,
30 min drive from Tomakomai.
Please set your navigation destination to “Shikotsu Onsen”
and head towards the shotengai parking lot at Lake Shikotsu
or Please use Google Map and set Lake Shikotsuko Visitor Center as Goal
– If you’re visiting by bus
Please get off at “Shikotsu Onsen” bus stop.
You should see a shotengai (market st)on the left.
Look for the signage near the center area of the parking lot.
It is about a 1 min walk from the bus stop.
– If you’re visiting by taxi (all costs are estimates)
From Chitose: 3,000-5,000 yen
From Sapporo: 7,000 yen
Not included in the cost:
500 yen parking fee at Shikotsu Onsen Parking Lot
(parking lot is free between Dec – Mar)
*When making reservations, please input the participants’ height, weight, and shoe size.
* In the case of bad weather, we will notify you about the cancellation via call as soon as possible.
(Tour will still go on in the case of light rain/snow)
* The tour guide has the right to end the tour midway in the case of bad weather.

– Express trains between Sapporo and New Chitose Airport is about 40 min
– Bus Stop #1 at New Chitose Airport
