Contents

Planning a trip is always exciting, but makes it even better as a couple!
Do you prioritize food, view, or simply an extraordinary memory-making?
Our very own Furano offers all of the above and is an ideal destination for your next trip!
Let’s take a look at some of the amazing date spots.

Begin by Choosing the Right Airport

Asahikawa Airport

If you are visiting Furano as a couple, Asahikawa Airport is recommended over the New Chitose Airport due to the distance from the city.
From Asahikawa to Furano, it takes about an hour, and from New Chitose, roughly 2 hours via Sapporo.

There are places like Sapporo and Otaru that you may want to visit as well, but keeping the traveling time minimal can be beneficial to fully enjoy one city.
Remember, Hokkaido is the largest prefecture in Japan so we recommend you to set a base in Asahikawa to visit Furano.

Drive

There are 3 car rental shops near the Asahikawa Airport and the drive from Asahikawa to Furano is a scenic route on its own.
If you don’t have a license or don’t want to due to snow and driving isn’t an option, Furano is accessible by bus or train so choose the one that best fits your plan!

Breakfast Options

Tomita Melon House

After arriving in the Asahikawa Airpot with a heart full of excitement, you may want to get a taste of the local food right away. Tomita Melon House adjacent to the famous lavender field Farm Tomita, would be a great option for a wonderful breakfast.

Open only during the summer season, the restaurant opens at 9 am will a mellow aroma of the Furano melon breakfast.
The most popular item is fresh-cut melon, but we also recommend the freshly baked melon bread and melon omelet.
They’re all worth a try!

Another great breakfast option is the Flox Hall restaurant in Biei, not far from Furano.

Those who had breakfast at Tomita Melon House should visit Farm Tomita on the same day.
Farm Tomita’s lavender fields were introduced in the Japan Rail calendar and gained national recognition ever since.
If you would like to visit fields other than lavender, “Mori no Irodori no Hatake” is our recommendation.
Each flower field would make a perfect social media post!

Taste the Richness – Furano Cheese Factory

Dairy farming is a key industry in Hokkaido and we recommend the “Furano Cheese Factory.”

Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of delicious cheese made from fresh milk from Furano-bred cows, including Japan’s only wine-infused cheese, a Gouda with onion, and a Camembert white mold aged cheese with squid ink powder.

Lunch Near the Furano Station

Let’s take a look at what is available near the Furano Station.
“Kumagera” is our first recommendation, a stand-alone restaurant that is known for their wagyu roast beef bowl.

The finely sliced quality wagyu beef has just enough fat that it pairs perfectly with the wasabi soy sauce. There are fans of this menu from outside Furano so it’s definitely a recommendation for gourmet couples.

Next recommendation is another local spot, “Fuku Sushi.”
