Plan introduction (Handcraft experience at the oldest cafe in Biei)
This is a plan to make “Tenugurumi” from a single piece of Japanese tenugui.
Why don’t you spend your time in Biei to feel a little bit of harmony?
“Tenugurumi” is a three-dimensional version of the Japanese tenugui, which has been loved in Japan since ancient times, without being sewn or cut.
Japanese tenugui has been used for various purposes such as interior decoration, handkerchiefs and towels.
It was created as a new form of Japanese tenugui, which has taken root in the lives of Japanese people.
What you can experience is the coffee shop “Cafe Suzuran”, which the residents of Biei have loved since 1961.
This is the oldest coffee shop in Biei Town, which was renovated in August 2017 and still retains its old-fashioned atmosphere, and you can experience making “tenugurumi” in a relaxed atmosphere with music from a 1970s stereo and a retro interior.
For the tenugurumi, you can choose a pumpkin, apple, or tomato.
It’s a wonder that it’s possible to make such a lovely shape just by folding it up without sewing or cutting it, isn’t it?
The design of the tenugui when you open it up is a tenugurumi design, which is also a key point!
You can take home your own handmade handkerchiefs, so they can be used as interior decorations or, of course, as handkerchiefs.
It’s fun for both children and adults, so why don’t you take a break from your trip and experience it?
