Plan Information(Snowshoe Experience in the Winter Forest Among the Ural Owls)
This snowshoe nature tour will take you to Nopporo Forest Park situated on the outskirts of Sapporo.
The park opened as Hokkaido’s Centennial Project to preserve nature and create intimacy with nature and residents.
With 80% of the park designated as a Wildlife Protection Area, it is home to over 140 species of birds, 110 species of trees, 400 species of grass/shrubbery, 200 species of mushrooms, and 1,300 species of insects.
Visitors can bring a pair of binoculars to bird watch while snowshoeing, or listen to the sound of their own footsteps or the tree branches rustling in the wind as the snow absorbs every other sound in the forest.
Ural owls, long-tailed bushtit birds, and black woodpeckers are among the more rare species of animals that can also be observed at the park.
If you’re lucky, you can also find holes that the woodpeckers have created in the trees!
A seasoned tour guide will lead the group using a snowshoe while adjusting to the experience level of the visitors.
Visitors will also be served a warm cup of coffee during break time.
Free pickups and drop offs from Sapporo hotels are offered.
