Plan introduction (Beginners welcome! SUP surfing experience)
Did you know that even the difficult sport of surfing can be done with relative ease if you use a standup paddleboard?
This plan will take you surfing at Hamaatsuma Beach, a popular surfing destination not too far from Tomakomai.
Participants, beginners and experienced alike will be able to use the paddleboard to SUP or surf on the waves.
The feeling of riding the waves is definitely one of a kind!
This plan is highly recommended for those who have never tried surfing before but always wanted to, or those who simply don’t spend much time in the ocean.
You can start out by riding the waves whilst sitting on the paddleboard, then slowly transition to the standing-stance to enjoy SUP.
You’ll be safe at all times as you’ll be wearing a lifejacket and accompanied by an experienced guide at all times.
Hamaatsuma is about an hour drive from Sapporo Station, or 35 min from Chitose.
All you need to bring is your swim gear and change of clothes, so come drive over and experience your first SUP/surfing!
