Information about the model course
Yoichi Nikka Whisky
It is no exaggeration to say that there is no one in Japan who doesn’t know about Nikka Whisky, which is produced at the Yoichi distillery.
The climate is similar to that of Scotland, which is said to be suitable for making whiskey.
Shakotan Peninsula (Shimamui Coast, Cape Kamui)
Shimamui Coast is one of the “100 best beaches in Japan” and offers a spectacular view called Shakotan Blue.
To get to Shimamui Coast, you have to go through a small tunnel at the end, but the blue ocean that jumps out at you right after you pass through the dark tunnel is said to be breathtakingly beautiful.
Cape Kamui, which means “god” in the Ainu language, is a sacred area that was once forbidden to women.
It is said to be the most difficult point on the Sea of Japan, and its intricate topography is a place where you can feel the magnitude of nature.
The above route is the basic one, but we may visit the following spots if we need to change it.
Fukuhara Fishing Ground
The Fukuhara family, who lived here at the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate, owned the fishing grounds, which were dominated by the herring fishery that was flourishing in Otaru.
The Fukuhara Fishing Ground is a reproduction of the life of the Fukuhara family and their herring fishery, and provides valuable historical information.
Former Shimoyoichi Unjyoya
The former Yoichi Unjyoya was a management base used by the Matsumae clan, which traded with the Ainu people in various ways in the past.
At that time, there were many unjyoya(Unjyoya: Trading Post) houses all over Hokkaido, but today, this yoichi unjyoya is the only one still in existence, making it a truly historical building.
Inside the building, there are various exhibits that show what it was like in those days, and it is a fascinating place to learn about the Ainu people.
Bikuni Underwater Observation Boat
If Shakotan blue is so attractive, don’t just look at it, actually go out to the sea!
The water quality is so beautiful that you can see the bottom of the sea, and you can only enjoy it by going out to the sea. When the conditions are good, you can even see the sea urchins that live at the bottom of the sea.
You will be visiting the above spots, but we can change some of them if you consult us in advance.
You can also extend the time by 30 minutes (+3,150 yen), so please feel free to contact us.
Shakotan is one of the most beautiful spots in Hokkaido, and it is difficult to find the best route for sightseeing by yourself.
Since the spots are scattered in various places, it is best to have a sightseeing taxi tour to take you there!
Why don’t you take this opportunity to enjoy Shakotan sightseeing for the first time?
