This plan is a taxi tour where a local guide will drive a sightseeing cab to take you to the popular tourist spot, Nishin Goten (Herring Palace), where you can learn about the history of the city of Otaru.

Nishin Goten (Herring Palace)
Otaru City flourished in herring fishing in the past, and reached its peak in the Meiji and Taisho periods.
It is said that about one million tons of herring were landed annually, accounting for about 60% of the domestic catch at that time!
It is said that about 2.5 billion yen was landed from Otaru’s fishing grounds every year, and that the herring fishery made a profit of 100 million yen.
“Nishin Goten” still retains the prosperity of those days.
The extravagant mansion that the former Aoyama family, which reached its peak in the Taisho era, built as a villa in Shukutsu in Otaru is still preserved as a cultural asset.
The construction of the blend of Japanese and Western styles is luxurious and gorgeous.
There are two Nishin Goten, each with a different concept, but that’s for you to see!
Shukutsu Panorama Observatory

The Shukutsu Panorama Observatory is one of the most beautiful spots in Otaru.
The breathtaking view of the cobalt blue sky in front of you is truly breathtaking.
The steep cliffs and the endless ocean are the perfect place to feel the magnitude of nature.
Otaru Canal
The last place to visit is the Otaru Canal, one of the most popular tourist spots in Otaru.
In addition to taking photos, you can learn about the historical warehouses and why the uniquely shaped Otaru Canal is the way it is.
Let’s finish the taxi tour with a local guide who can help you learn more about the historical warehouses and the unusual shape of Otaru Canal.
The tour will take you to the tourist spots listed above, but some of them can be changed if you consult with us in advance.
You can also extend the time by 30 minutes (+3,150 yen), so please feel free to contact us.
Some of the places you will visit in this tour are located a little far from Otaru Station, so it is not easy to visit them on foot or even by bus.
However, if you leave it to the local guide who knows the way, he or she will take you to the best route without wasting your time!
Pick-up service at Otaru Station and accommodation in Otaru City is included, so please join us!
