Plan Introduction (Diving at Lake Shikotsu)
Lake Shikotsu in Hokkaido is known as “crystal blue” for its best water quality in Japan.
Participants can enjoy all kinds of nature while it is only 1 hour drive away from Sapporo.
First time diving? No worries.
This plan is recommended for participants with little prior diving experience.
Participants will practice breathing underwater at a shallow area first, then slowly move into the deeper area.
At the lake bottom, you will see a wide variety of freshwater fish that you can’t find in the ocean.
If you keep going further down towards the lake bottom, you’ll see the colors change to a mystical blue, making it look like a part of the forest is submerged under the lake.
The sunlight shining on driftwoods at the bottom of Lake Shikotsu is breathtaking.
A natural monument, Chitose Baikamo (Ranunculus yesoensis), can be seen in summer.
Pink trout can be seen depending on the season.
The clarity of Lake Shikotsu goes beyond imagination and will put those who visit in awe.
Enjoy everything that has to be seen in the water.
Total time spent underwater will be roughly 30 min.

*Please make sure to confirm that you are in good physical condition before applying.
Please note that the full fee will be charged even if you are determined to be unable to participate on the day of the tour, based on the checklist you have filled out.

This document must be signed by a guardian if a minor is participating without an adult.
Please submit to the event staff upon arrival. If you forget to do so, you will not be able to participate in this course. In this case, 100% of the cancellation fee will be charged.

70 min drive from Sapporo,
40 min drive from New Chitose Airport,
30 min drive from Tomakomai.
Please set your navigation destination to “Shikotsu Onsen”
and head towards the shotengai parking lot to arrive at “Guest House Shikotsu Kamui”
– If you’re visiting by bus
Please get off at the “Shikotsu Onsen” bus stop.
You should see a shotengai (market st)on the left.
Look for the sign near the center area of the parking lot.
Approx. 1 min walk from the bus stop.
– If you’re visiting by taxi (all costs are estimates)
From Chitose: 3,000-5,000 yen
From Sapporo: 7,000 yen

*Upon reservations, please let us know the participants’ height, weight, shoe size, age, and gender.
* In the case of inclement weather, we will notify you about the cancellation via phone as soon as possible.
(Tour will still be held in case of light rain/snow)
* The tour guide has the right to end the tour midway in the due to weather conditions.
* Please make sure to confirm your flight boarding time when you make your reservation. Due to the risk of decompression sickness, please allow at least 12 hours to board after diving.
You will not be able to participate if the flight scheduled is within 12 hours. Subject to a charge of 100% cancellation fee.
*Medical history that may affect diving
If you have had surgery or been hospitalized due to respiratory failure, such as pneumothorax, pneumonia, or asthma, a doctor’s note is required.
* Please note the following if you’re using public transport:
– Express trains between Sapporo and New Chitose Airport is about 40 min
– Bus terminal #1 at New Chitose Airport
